Back from that old dusty trail/ my birthday/ halloween

What a trip. I've been off work for a month and a half. I loved seeing family and friends, some of which it had been years since the last time I saw them. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits, especially given the economy. I am lucky to have such loving and hospitable people in my life. Thank you all again for letting me crash at your places. Anytime you're in my neck of the woods, I would love to return the favor. My couch is ready.

That being said, I think a month was a little too long of a break. Last time I took a month off it felt necessary. I hadn't quite settled here, and I need a break from all the stress of adjusting to living somewhere new. This time around, I felt constantly eager to get home, even though I was having a great time seeing old friends and family. I guess that means Vancouver is finally home.

The last two weeks have been strange, it seems like everything needs a shake up with a change of the seasons. Lots of great friends are moving away, following that pull of destiny. They will be greatly missed. Other friends have moved into a house together, and the place is beautiful. Hopefully it will create a strong and positive community in the the coming months. All of this makes me excited to see what the future will bring. At the risk of sounding cliché.

Man, the Fall, it sneaks up on you. Not two months ago I was running around in shorts and watching the sun go down at 9pm. Now I'm already bundled up in scarves and gloves, raincoats and hats. Bring it rain, I'm ready for you this year. I soaked up enough sunshine this summer to last me until Spring. I hope.

What... else... OH YEAH it was my birthday! I turned 25. I'm like a real grown up age. I'm older than my parents were when they had me. That thought blows my mind. I don't think I could handle having a kid at this point in my life. Thankfully my parents did, I think I turned out alright, and I'm glad to be here. Thanks guys.

Also Halloween. It was a mixed bag. I dressed as Paul Bunyan and Moses dressed as Babe the Big Blue Ox. We looked pretty great. Went to an awesome house party, left it to go to a TERRIBLE bar. Couldn't catch a cab, so we hailed a limo. The rest of the night went down hill when the girl I was interested in decided to hook up with a WHITE GUY with DREADLOCKS. My ego is a little bruised, but I survive. The night was all around positive. I just wish I didn't leave the house party.

My workout routine will return to full effect this week. SO check in here in about a week to see if the vacation destroyed any progress I'd been making!
